Throughput.
The amount of work a system completes in a given period of time.
Useful when capacity matters as much as the speed of one task.
“Measure import throughput in successfully processed records per minute, alongside errors and latency.”
A closer look
A workflow might process many records at once and finish more total work while each record waits longer. Define what counts as completed work and the measurement interval. Counting attempted operations can exaggerate useful throughput when failures or retries are frequent.
Put it to work
“Compare completed support cases per week while keeping quality requirements fixed.”
A useful distinction
High throughput does not guarantee low latency or good quality. Track these properties separately.
